According to the NHL's CMO, Scott Mayer, P.K. Subban will produce an NHL talk-show titled, 'P.K.'s Places' set to air in May 2024, just in time for playoffs. The show's concept was ripped straight from the NFL's 'Peyton's Places,' which has proved a smashing success in its short tenure. Mayer appeared on Elliotte Friedman's 32 Thoughts podcast to break the news.

Production is set to begin this fall, and Mayer specified that the show will proceed regardless of whether or not P.K. signs and plays this season, which is interesting. All in all, more than six months of pre-production, he can play and produce the show simultaneously, but the show's length and frequency will depend on his playing schedule, should he have one.

If you are like me, you have been silently anticipating what P.K. Subban's next move is. P.K. is a polarizing figure, but the guy still has some good hockey left despite falling out of Norris form. His descent from 'NHL's Best Defenseman' has soured the opinions of thousands of hockey fans, and his off-ice antics are a whole other story.

Subban has not gotten into any nefarious activity or anything, but his large personality coupled with his extra-curricular activities have been dubbed a distraction. New Jersey has not had great success during P.K.'s time there, but it is extremely difficult to place the lion's share of the blame on him.

He is still playing at a fine level, and any contending team looking for a cheap two-way defenseman in a bottom-pair role -- possibly even second pair -- ought to be poking around here.

The obvious downsides to signing a 33-year old P.K. Subban are his acumen for taking objectively stupid penalties and his ability to defend. Which, I will concede, are critical. Further, he has not been deployed in super difficult minutes, and he still struggles considerably.

If a team is willing to take a chance on Subban, they had better have an already strong defense and just a generally cohesive group mentality. Otherwise, there is a strong chance he harms more than he helps.
