The Carolina Hurricanes unveiled a throwback uniform on Thursday that will be worn throughout the 2022-23 season to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their move from Hartford to Raleigh.

The jersey is essentially the same as they wore for their inaugural season in North Carolina back in 1997. The base colour of the uniform is red, with white, silver and black striping on the bottom of the sleeves and jersey. It also features a hurricane warning flag around the bottom of the jersey.

"In celebrating our 25th anniversary in North Carolina, we felt there was no better time than now to honor our past and blend it with a modern adidas cut by introducing our vintage-inspired red jersey which will serve as our third jersey this season," Canes Chief Marketing Officer Mike Forman said.

He added, "Our fans often note that this sweater is the organization's most iconic and was highlighted by hoisting the Stanley Cup while wearing it in 2006. With the move to make our current black sweaters our primary home uniforms, the addition of this year's vintage-inspired jersey has allowed us to round out our primary uniform collection consisting of our home black, road white and third/anniversary red. We hope our fans are as excited as we are to see these back on the ice this year."

A uniform schedule is set to be released in the near future, but their 25th anniversary jersey will be worn for twelve games during the 2022-23 season.

Carolina is now set to wear five different uniforms throughout the 2022-23 campaign. They'll have their black home jerseys, which were formerly their alternates, their white away jerseys, the 25th anniversary jersey, along with their 2023 Stadium Series jersey and the Reverse Retro 2.0 jersey.
