According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Detroit Red Wings have avoided arbitration with defenceman Jake Walman, signing him to a one-year, one-way contract worth $1.05 million.

On Tuesday, both sides submitted their arbitration filings.. Walman's camp wanted a one-year, one-way contract worth $1.7 million, while the Red Wings wanted a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000 at the NHL level and $225,000 at the AHL level.

Walman, 26, was drafted by the St. Louis Blues back in 2014 and appeared in 57 games with them before being traded to Detroit at the deadline in March, along with Oskar Sundqvist and a 2023 second round pick in exchange for Nick Leddy and Luke Witkowski.

In 51 games between the Blues and Red Wings during the 2021-22 season, Walman had ten points (three goals, seven assists), ten penalty minutes and was a minus-three.
