The Arizona Coyotes announced this morning that the club has agreed to terms on a five-year, $21.5 million ($4.3M AAV) contract extension with F Lawson Crouse:

Drafted in 2015, Lawson Crouse was a first-round pick of the Florida Panthers but never dressed for them. He was traded to Arizona in the summer of 2016 along with Dave Bolland in exchange for two draft picks.

In 346 games with Arizona, the 25-year old has scored 110 points and 253 PIMs, which makes the $4.3 million cap-hit look a bit high. 2021-22 featured his career-best in goal and points with 20 and 34 respectively. Coming off his best season, the power-forward earned a serious raise, and it is up to him to make himself worth it.

At 5v5, Crouse is a physical middle-six winger and a strong enough 200-foot play driver with horrendous results on special teams. Almost all of his offense is generated off the rush with little-to-no playmaking. Crouse is the kind of player who benefits greatly from playing with good players, of which Arizona is short. So the Coyotes are gambling $4.3 million per year for the next five years that Crouse's offensive numbers will continue to rise on a poor team.
