Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar, a native of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, returned to his roots this summer and brought with him Lord Stanley's Cup.

Every summer, the Conexus Credit Union Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament is held in honor of the 16 members of the Humboldt Broncos who perished in the fatal bus crash of 2018. During this year's fifth anniversary of the event, Bednar crashed the party with hockey's highest award and took pictures with fans.

Also on his trip home, Bednar was inducted into the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Hall of Fame, along with rest of the 2022 induction class: Bob Beatty, Dean Brockman, Sheldon Brookbank, Wade Brookbank, Kelly Chase, Chris Cuthbert, Curt Giles, Elgar Petersen, Brett Stewart and the 2007/08 Humboldt Broncos National Junior «A» Championship team.

The Avalanche are setting a great example this summer. Bednar bringing the Cup to Humboldt's Memorial Golf Tournament, Ryan Murray and Darcy Kuemper visiting kids' hospitals, just class acts all the way through. Surely, they are having their fair bit of fun in the same light.

Bednar is the only coach in NHL history to win each of the Stanley (NHL), Calder (AHL), and Kelly (ECHL) Cups. Earlier this summer, Bednar returned to Charleston, S. Carolina, where he won the ECHL championship with the South Carolina Stingrays.

A lot more Cup-content will be released over the summer, thanks of Philip Pritchard, the Keeper of the Cup. Hopefully the Avs' players keep the dents to a minimum, but I wouldn't count on it.
