On Sunday, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced the trade of defenseman Ryan McDonagh in exchange for Preds defenseman Philippe Myers and forward Grant Mismash.

Nashville is a bit of a surprising landing spot for the veteran defenseman, but there could be a good fit there. Nashville seemed to be missing a couple of pieces, so maybe McDonagh could fill one of those holes.

As for who the Lightning received, Myers is a 25-year-old right-handed defenseman who played in 27 games for the Predators posting a goal and four points with a plus-five rating. During the previous three seasons, he played in Philadelphia. He had his best season in 2019-20 when he tallied four goals and 16 points in 50 games.

Mismash is a 23-year-old forward that skated in 57 games last season in the AHL, putting up six goals and 12 points in his rookie season. The 2017 second round pick of the Predators is a University of North Dakota product that has yet to make his NHL debut.
