According to sportswriter Joe McDonald, Patrice Bergeron is expected to return to the Boston Bruins for the 2022-23 season.

There had been plenty of speculation in recent months as to whether or not Bergeron would retire once the 2021-22 campaign had been completed, but that appears not to be the case. McDonald stated in his tweet that it is expected the 36-year-old will sign a one-year extension with the team he has spent his entire 1216 game career with.

Despite getting up there in age, Bergeron remains one of the games elite two-way forwards. Not only did he register 25 goals and 65 points in 73 games this season, but he was also rewarded with the Selke Trophy, an award which he has now won five teams in his career, which is the most of any player all-time. Bruins fans and the hockey world as a whole should be thrilled at the fact we get to see him in action for at least one more year.
