The agent for Rangers prospect Vitali Kravtsov, Dan Milstein, announced on his Twitter account that his client has signed a one-year, one-way contract with New York on Sunday. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman added that the contract is worth $875,000.

Earlier this week, Kravtsov reportedly turned down a KHL contract extension in hope of returning to the National Hockey League for the 2022-23 season.

Kravtsov, 22, has had a turbulent start to his time with the Rangers organization. He appeared in 20 games for New York in the 2020-21 season, but was not named to their opening night roster for the 2021-22 campaign. He refused an AHL assignment and was loaned to Traktor Chelyabinsk of the KHL for the rest of the season.

Since he was loaned to Traktor Chelyabinsk, the Rangers have looked at trading the Vladivostok native, with many teams interested. Ultimately, nothing materialized, with general manager Chris Drury seeking a top prospect in return for Kravtsov.

In nineteen regular season games for Traktor Chelyabinsk, Kravtsov had thirteen points (six goals, seven assists), no penalty minutes and was a minus-four. He added ten points (seven goals, three assists) in fifteen playoff games.
