Former Minnesota Wild prospect Kris Foucault is being dubbed a hero after saving a drowning six-year-old girl in Nassau, Bahamas.

Ironically enough, the 31-year-old Foucault thought of becoming a Canadian Coast Guard if his hockey career didn't pan out. Though that never, or at least hasn't, come to fruition, he is an experienced swimmer, which came of great benefit when he noted a strong rip current pull the young girl out into the water. Without hesitation, Foucault went out after her and was able to bring both himself and her back to shore safely.

«As hockey players, we do have to stay in tip-top shape,» said Foucault, who spent the 2021-22 season playing for the Iserlohn Roosters in Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). «For me, I'm a little bit of an older player – I'm 31 – staying in shape and being able to swim has kept my career going. I shout out my trainers for keeping me equipped for hockey and equipped for other situations as well.»

Foucault, who was drafted in the fourth-round (103 overall) of the 2009 draft, went into more detail on exactly how the situation occurred in an interview which can be read fully below. Despite him downplaying his actions, the bravery he showed truly does make him a hero.
