2022 IIHF World Hockey Championship Day 6 Recap

Day 6 at the 2022 IIHF World Hockey Championship is in the books and it was highlighted by one of the biggest rivalries in international hockey, Finland vs Sweden.

In the first games of the day, France scored late in the third period to tie the game up at 1-1, before Hugo Gallet potted the overtime winner to lead his country to their second win of the tournament.

France's goals: Sacha Treille, Hugo Gallet.
Italy's goal: Luca Frigo.

In Tampere, Norway defeated Austria 5-3 to earn their second win of the World Championship. Austrian defenceman Philipp Wimmer was ejected early in the third period for an illegal check to the head.

Norway's goals: Mats Rosseli Olsen (x2), Andreas Martinsen, Martin Roymark, Martin Ronnild.
Austria's goals: Dominique Heinrich, Lukas Haudum, Peter Schneider.

In the marquee event of the day, Finland led Sweden after two periods, but Tre Kronor tied it up and won it in a shootout. Sweden sits atop Group B with 11 points (3 wins, 1 overtime win) in four games.

Sweden's goals: Adam Larsson, Joel Kellman.
Finland's goals: Mikko Lehtonen, Sami Vatanen.

Meanwhile in the night game in Helsinki, Juraj Slafkovsky scored his first goal of the tournament, but it wasn't enough as Switzerland won a penalty-filled affair by a score of 5-3. Swiss defenceman Michael Fora was ejected with less than ten minutes remaining in the third period for kneeing.

Switzerland's goals: Denis Malgin, Dominik Egli, Timo Meier, Nico Hischier, Fabrice Herzog.
Slovakia's goals: Milos Roman, Juraj Slafkovsky, Samuel Takac.
