It's been a home-game series between the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes, and that was no different for Game 7 in Raleigh, NC. Once the Canes took the lead late in the 1st period, they never looked back.

The Canes could not have secured victory in this decisive Game 7 without the stellar performance from their netminder, Antti Raanta. He finished the game with 26 saves on 28 shots for a .929 save percentage. He helped the team settle in, got the crowd into it, and absolutely stunted any Boston momentum early in the game on a cross crease save against Taylor Hall.

Teuvo Teravainen started the scoring off late in the first period on a beautiful pass from Max Domi. Early in the second period, Domi took over the game. He scored on a play from the corner by simply putting the puck over the line before Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman was able to recover his net.

Let's remember that Domi was a trade deadline acquisition from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Carolina sent a third-round pick and two prospects the other way. At the beginning of the series, Domi was slotting alongside Jesperi Kotkaniemi on the fourth line. He was promoted to the second line alongside Vincent Trochek.

Jake Debrusk answered for the Bruins, scoring on a beautiful shot in the low slot:

Max Domi responded in kind on a great one-timer from the hash marks:

The third period was a physical, tight-checking affair. Boston pushed the issue late in the third with the extra attacker. Canes defenseman Brady Skeji had his stick break during a sequence, and the Bruins took full advantage. Forward David Pastranak scored a goal with under a minute remaining in regulation to bring the Bruins within one goal, but they simply ran out of time.

Carolina now advances to play the winner of Game 7 between the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers tomorrow night. Their second round series should being early next week, and the Canes will have home ice advantage once again. As usual in the great game of hockey, every series will end in handshakes.
