Marchand Fined for Slashing Carolina's Pyotr Kotchetkov; Forbort Also Fined

This season's playoffs have served as a not-so gentle reminder that hockey is not a sport for the feint of heart. Some teams' identities fit well with this, and others don't. Luckily most of the latter teams don't make the playoffs, so it's more fun for us.

Brad Marchand had a brief exchange with Carolina Hurricanes' rookie netminder Pyotr Kotchetkov.

NHL's Department of Player Safety issued Marchand a fine for the slash:
