The Nashville Predators had a brutal night in Colorado on Tuesday, losing 7-2 in Game 1 on their 7-game series against the Avalanche. The Avs were able to score five unanswered goals in the first ten minutes of the game. Eventually, Pred's goaltender David Rittich was mercy-pulled in favor of rookie Connor Ingram. One of the league's witty team accounts even admitted defeat early in the night:

Despite being traded from the Avalanche in 2017 and being a member of three other teams since (OTT, CBJ, NSH), Avalanche fans continue to show their displeasure about the circumstances surrounding Duchene's trade. Even though hindsight shows how much of a haul Colorado received from trading the all-star forward (namely a pick that turned into Bowen Byram, defenseman Samuel Girard, and elite prospect Shane Bowers), the Av's faithful remain bitter. Every time Duchene touched the puck during Tuesday night's game, the Av's fans would chant "Duchene sucks." Duchene finished the night scoring, albeit meaningless, the Predator's only two goals of the game.

Duchene responded to such criticism post-game by saying, "They've always had an amazing fan base here. They're backing their team really well."

Perhaps Duchene will have a little more help in Thursday's Game 2 matchup in the mile high city. The Predators will surely need it to steal a game on the road and even the series up.
