It's been a long recovery for Carey Price regarding his knee that he had surgery on in July of 2021. He battled hard to get back into the Canadiens' lineup, and ultimately appeared in five games before the end of the regular season.

On Saturday morning, Price met with the media for his final interview of the 2021-22 season and acknowledged that Friday's game, which happened to be his 700th career start, may have been his last in the NHL.

Price said that he still has some swelling in his knee and that he isn't 100%, which led to a visit with his surgeon in New York on Wednesday where they did some imaging.

When asked if he could play upwards of 55-60 games with how he is feeling currently, he said:

"My honest opinion is no. I don't believe the current state would be sustainable for a full season."

Losing Carey Price would be a massive loss for the Montreal Canadiens, and it definitely showed this season. While they do have plenty of goaltending talent in the pipeline, Cayden Primeau, Frederik Dichow, Jakub Dobes, and Joe Vrbetic, it's unlikely that one of them will turn out to be the next Carey Price, but it's still too early to tell.

If that was Price's final game in the National Hockey League, he definitely went out with a bang, making 37 saves on 39 shots as the Canadiens won 10-2.
