Don Fehr, who has served as the NHLPA's executive director for over a decade, is set to soon be replaced after a vote from the executive board.

Many had grown upset with Fehr in his handling regarding the Kyle Beach investigation, though he was cleared of any wrong doing. Nonetheless, a search for a new director is underway. In the meantime, Fehr will continue to hold the position until a new successor is found, one in which will reportedly be decided on in mid-July.

While Fehr's tenure in this role did have some good, it sounds as though most will welcome this change. According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, many have grown frustrated with the perceived lack of value he has provided to the union aside of the war-time labor negotiating period. On top of that, he is now 73-years-old, meaning a younger, fresher perspective may be the way to go moving forward.
