Hockey Hall of Famer Vladislav Tretiak announced on Wednesday that he will run for another term as President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia.

In his statement, Tretiak said it is important for him to run for another four year term because he has a good relationship with the International Ice Hockey Federation and once the war with Ukraine is over, he wants to establish ties.

He also mentioned that he doesn't understand why sports and politics are so intertwined and why Russia has had the 2023 World Juniors and 2023 World Championship taken away from them.

"In today's time it is impossible to leave the post of president of the federation. The operation that is going on in Ukraine will end, and after it it will be necessary to establish ties. I can't get my head around what is happening in the world, how politics is mixed with sports, we have two world championships taken away, but I have good connections with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), we will seek recognition and cooperation with the International Olympic Committee. I decided to put forward my candidacy for the presidency of the FHR for another four years," Tretiak said.
