Last night's match between Florida & Tampa Bay was a prototypical playoff atmosphere. The Sunshine State Rivalry is one of the hottest in the NHL at the moment as both teams are perennial powerhouses.

Tampa won this one by a deep margin, but the entertainment value stood tall. As you'd expect there was fighting, big hits, more fighting...it was great. Take this heated exchange between Ryan Lomberg & Erik Cernak:

Cernak was cut over his eye as he & the Lomberghini (as he's referred to in FLA) wrestled to the ice. Since the fight came in the final five minutes & Lomberg instigated, the Department of Player Safety announced the rare automatic suspension for Lomberg today:

Additionally, Panthers' head coach Andrew Brunette was ejected in the final minutes & fined, as mentioned above.

This is a rare occurrence, and many fans do not agree with the decision. However, it is a direct violation of an NHL rule & punishment is a one-game suspension. Many fans simply do not believe Lomberg was the instigator, but alas he earns a one-game ban.
