One of the greatest legends to ever play for the Montreal Canadiens, or in the NHL for that matter, has passed away. Guy Lafleur's sister, Lise Lafleur, confirmed on her Facebook account that the Hockey Hall of Famer and five-time Stanley Cup Champion has died at the age of 70.

Translation: Guy I love you, you are done suffering we will miss you greatly

The list of awards and accolades for "The Flower" is lengthy to say the least. In addition to his five Stanley Cups, Lafleur is a three-time Art Ross winner, a two-time Hart Trophy winner, a three-time Lester B. Pearson (now the Ted Lindsay award) winner, a one-time Conn Smythe winner and a six-time All-Star. He was the first player in National Hockey League history to score 50 goals in six consecutive seasons as well as 50 goals and 100 points in six consecutive seasons.

Best known for his time with the Canadiens, Lafleur also suited up for the New York Rangers and the Quebec Nordiques during his career. In September of 2019, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. In a recent interview, he stated he had stopped treatment in order to enjoy the time he had left.

Lafleur leaves us just a week after fellow legend Mike Bossy also died of lung cancer. Our sincere condolences to family, friends and fans.
