With the Calgary Flames set to face off against the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night, Darryl Sutter was asked his thoughts on the extremely skilled squad. In typical Sutter fashion, he hyped them up a ton, but also appeared to throw a shot in at the end.

«When they have the full squad, they're the favorites to win the Stanley Cup,» Sutter said. «Other than the team that has the Stanley Cup, they're the favorites. They have a $100 million payroll, so they have to figure out how to keep 20 out.»

What Sutter is alluding to at the end of this quote is the fact that the Golden Knights have been forced to stash several players on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) this season in order to stay under the salary cap, something many have not been happy about. On Tuesday night, they were able to activate Stone and put him in their lineup, but in doing so had to place three players in Laurent Brossoit, William Carrier and Nolan Patrick on LTIR. It is a bit of a strange situation, but until the NHL changes the rules, there is nothing wrong with what they are doing.
