According to Kevin Weekes of ESPN, the Boston's opponent for the 2023 Winter Classic will be Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Boston has appeared in the Winter Classic, three times. In 2010, as mentioned they hosted and won the game, in 2016, they hosted again, this time at Gillette Stadium, but lost to the Montreal Canadiens. In 2019, they faced the Chicago Blackhawks at Notre Dame Stadium and won.
As for the Pittsburgh Penguins, they've appeared in the Winter Classic twice. In 2008, the won the inaugural game in a shootout over the Buffalo Sabres and then in 2011, they hosted at Heinz Field lost to the Washington Capitals.
