The 2022 IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship is set to begin on May 13th, and Hockey Canada is in the process of figuring out their management group and coaching staff.

One role already figured out is General Manager, which was given to former Coyotes forward Shane Doan. Doan was also Canada's General Manager for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing (China).

Next up for Shane Doan and the rest of the management staff will be finding the head coach as Canada looks to defend it's gold medal in Finland.

On Tuesday's edition of Insider Trading, Darren Dreger mentioned a few names that may be on the short list for the role including former Montreal Canadiens head coach and Canada's Olympic bench boss, Claude Julien. He also added that former Canucks head coach Travis Green, Ottawa Senators head coach D.J. Smith, and Arizona Coyotes head coach André Tourigny are likely to be among the candidates as well.

"Well, they are going through that process right now, but you are right, Shane Doan is a very friendly and familiar face to Hockey Canada management, he will be the general manager for Team Canada in Finland. The list of candidates includes someone also very familiar to Shane Doan and that's Travis Green. Travis Green has kept a low profile since being let go by the Vancouver Canucks, but I believe that he has interest in coaching with Team Canada. You look at some other familiar names as well, D.J. Smith of the Ottawa Senators, you've got Claude Julien, who has been around the Hockey Canada circles for quite some time, especially through this pandemic and André Tourigny is another name that is also being considered." Dreger said.

Canada will open their 2022 IIHF Men's World Championship on Friday, May 13th against Germany.
