Paul Maurice abruptly left his position as head coach of the Winnipeg Jets back in December and was replaced by Dave Lowry.

Maurice said he did his job, and that you can only get to a certain place with the team, adding that he feels that's where he was at. He also mentioned that he felt the Jets needed a new voice behind the bench.

As for what Maurice is up to these days, he's been spending time with his family. On Tuesday's edition of Insider Trading on TSN, Darren Dreger said that the 55-year-old is in no rush to return.

"You know, he is in absolutely no rush and very dependent on family, where his kids are going to be in the months leading up to next season. If there is a fit that makes sense for the Maurice family and the situation is right, depending on the quality of the team, lots of factors being considered here, then Paul Maurice will consider jumping back into the National Hockey League. A lot of «ifs» and as I say, Paul Maurice is in no rush to return to the NHL." Dreger said.

Maurice, a native of Sault Ste. Marie (Ontario), was head coach of the Winnipeg Jets from January 2014, when he was named the interim bench boss, up until his resignation on December 17th, 2021. He led the Jets to five appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including a trip to the Western Conference Final in 2018.
