Since retiring from the NHL after playing for 13 seasons, Marc Methot moved on to be on part of the Wally and Methot Show, a hockey podcast that features him and Brent Wallace. A recent "hot take" caused Methot to catch a lot of flak from fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and some messages he posted on Saturday shows they didn't hold back at all, going as far as to challenge him to a fight.

Near the end of March, Methot gave his take on the situation between Boston's Taylor Hall and Toronto's Ilya Lyubushkin, where Hall appeared to sucker punch Lyubushkin in the side of the head. For those that listen to Methot, you would know he really plays up his hatred of the Maple Leafs, something that came after playing several seasons with the Ottawa Senators. Methot said that Hall wasn't even trying to punch Lyubushkin, but rather trying to turn him around by grabbing his shoulder. He then accussed Lyubushkin of falling "like a house of cards."

"So, to me, in that play, Lyubushkin's a chickenshit, and obviously all the fanboy media members, and all the fans - we all know the ones that have their Auston Matthews picture avatars on Twitter - all the little minions are going to come out and defend him," said Methot."

Apparently this didn't sit well with some Leaf fans. On Saturday, Methot said he decided to check his messages on Instagram, which he rarely does, and posted screenshots of a couple of them.

Honestly, the comment about Matthews dusting Methot and his nine fingers gave me a pretty good chuckle. This, of course, refers to the time Sidney Crosby slashed Methot and shattered his pinky finger. It would need to be surgically repaired, although I'm pretty sure he still has all 10 of them. The other comment is just plain childish.
