The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Saturday morning that New York Islanders forward Casey Cizikas will have a hearing for boarding Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Brendan Smith.

The incident occurred less than thirty seconds into the third period of Friday night's game. Brendan Smith went to retrieve the puck from his own zone, when Cizikas comes in and hits him from behind into the boards. Cizikas was given a two-minute minor for boarding on the play.

Cizikas, 31, has appeared in 63 games this season for the Islanders, tallying fourteen points (nine goals, five assists), 46 penalty minutes, and is a minus-two.
