Swedes love their hockey, there's no question about it. With the Swedish Hockey League now in playoff mode, thousands of hyped-up fans are hitting arenas to cheer on their favourite teams. However, there always seems to be at least one that takes it too far, and this has led to a statement from an SHL team telling supporters to stay away if they can't control their emotions.

Saturday night, Rogle and Oskarshamn were involved in an intense game. After it was over, a Rogle fan reportedly told an official he "should put a shot" in him after what the fan felt was a missed call. A police report has been filed, and Rogle released a statement on its website condemning the threat.

"We have fantastic supporters who are extremely loyal and create a great atmosphere and support for the club, so it is unfortunate that a single supporter ruins it for the others," said the team.

"Verbal or physical threats against officials, referees, opponents and others are never okay and something we will never accept. If you as an individual can not draw that line, you are not welcome in our family or in our arena."

It's sad this even needs to be said, but good on the club for addressing it and making it clear this type of thing is not acceptable. As hockey fans, we can all get emotional sometimes, but threatening an official, or anyone else for that matter, simply can't be tolerated.
