The Carolina Hurricanes announced that they've signed one of their top prospects, Noel Gunler, to a three-year, entry-level contract worth $2,587,500 ($862,500 AAV). Gunler's contract will begin next season and run through the 2024-25 campaign.

Gunler, 20, will report to the Chicago Wolves of American Hockey League for the remainder of the 2021-22 season on a professional tryout contract (PTO).

"Noel is a sharpshooter who has the pace to play our up-tempo style," Hurricanes General Manager Don Waddell said. "We're lucky to have him join the Wolves for their playoff run."

The Lulea (Sweden) native was selected in the second round (41st overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the 2021-22 season in the Swedish Hockey League with Brynas IF. In 52 games, Gunler had 23 points (thirteen goals, ten assists), 36 penalty minutes, and was a minus-seven.
