It's been nearly two months since the Montreal Canadiens brought in Hockey Hall of Famer Martin St. Louis to become their interim head coach. Since he was hired on February 9th, the Canadiens have gone 10-7-4 in 21 games with many players on the roster enjoying a lot more success including Cole Caufield.

Following day 1 of the General Manager meetings in Florida, Kent Hughes was asked about the Canadiens removing the interim tag on St. Louis and Hughes said that he wants to.

"I'd like to see him part of the Montreal Canadiens organization for the long term and remove the interim tag, if that's the question you're asking," Hughes said.

"In terms of the success and the impact that he's had, I expected him to have an impact, no question about it. Probably not as significant as he has in such a short period of time, but, I said at the beginning, I'm not one to bet against Marty St. Louis, and those that have, have generally lost. He's a pretty special guy and he's proven to be a pretty special coach."

It appears that the whole organization, management and players included, along with fans, love having Martin St. Louis behind the bench as head coach. There were certainly concerns from many regarding the fact he hasn't coached higher than bantam AAA in the United States, but being a Hockey Hall of Famer means that he knows the game exceptionally well. St. Louis had a great career as a player, there's no doubt he can have a solid one behind the bench of the Montreal Canadiens.
