Claude Giroux is set to make his Florida Panthers debut on Thursday night in Montreal against the Canadiens. He was acquired last Saturday in a package that saw former tenth overall pick Owen Tippett head to the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Hearst (Ontario) native will become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career this coming off-season and according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, one location Giroux is keeping his eye on is Ottawa.

"No guarantee it happens, but I do believe Claude Giroux is doing his research on Ottawa," Friedman said in his 32 Thoughts article.

In 1,000 career games, all with Philadelphia, Giroux had 900 points (291 G, 609 A). He'll look to write a new chapter in his career starting on Thursday night, one he hopes will end by hoisting his first Stanley Cup in June.

As for the Ottawa Senators, they were reportedly in discussions with Montreal about moving centerman Colin White to the Canadiens, Elliotte Friedman said. White was formerly represented by current Montreal Canadiens General Manager, Kent Hughes.

"Something to keep an eye on: Colin White and Montreal. Canadiens GM Kent Hughes represented White, negotiating his current contract with the Senators. There were conversations, and, for a time, a few sources expected it to happen. We will see if it gets revisited," Friedman said.

White, 25, has spent parts of six seasons in the National Hockey League with the Senators, who selected him 21st overall in 2015. Following the 2021-22 season, the Boston (Massachusetts) native has three more years left on his contract with a cap hit of $4.75 million.
