The 2022 NHL Draft was surrounded in mystery due to no one knowing who was going to go first. Today an NHL organization trolled their opponent for their first pick.
Coyotes Humiliate First Overall Pick
Last night the Arizona Coyotes and Montreal Canadiens faced off. It was the matchup of first overall pick Canadiens' forward Juraj Slafkovsky and Coyotes third overall pick Logan Cooley.
The game ended in a 3-2 Coyotes win with Logan Cooley getting a point. After the game, the Coyotes social media team took an opportunity to mock the Canadiens.
Cooley and Slafkovsky have been on completely different ends of the spectrum when it comes to production. This has caused a major uproar about who should've gone first overall.
Cooley Off To A Blistering Start
Logan Cooley wasted no time showing he belongs in the NHL. In the preseason he wowed fans in Australia with a jaw dropping goal.
Since his NHL debut Cooley has kept up his high level play. In 10 games Cooley has 8 points. He has put himself in the conversation for the Calder Trophy with his play.
The decision on draft day in 2022 seemed like a head scratcher from the Montreal Canadiens. Just over a year later fans are left even more confused as one prospect flourishes and the other flounders.
Only time will be able to tell who made the right pick.
