There has been a massive development for Shane Wright and his immediate future for next season.
Wright Turnaround
Last season was not too great for Shane Wright. Splitting time between the NHL, AHL, and OHL, Wright was bouncing all over the place last year.
This year, he will not need to do anything of the sort after the OHL deemed him eligible to play in the AHL next year.
Shane Wright can officially play in the AHL this season
Kraken general manager Ron Francis said that he'll be granted an exemption to send Shane Wright to the American Hockey League in lieu of the junior ranks if he doesn't make the NHL squad
This is massive for Wright as it would allow him to play in the AHL next season which is where he should have played last year.
With the Kraken having one of the deepest rosters in all of the NHL, it will be difficult for Wright to make the roster but if he is able to, he will not need to worry about the OHL.
This year will be pivotal in Wright's development and will truly let the public know what his future in the NHL will be whether that is as a top-line player or as a solid middle-six center.
