On Tuesday night, several reports broke that Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask was planning on retiring in the upcoming days after attempting a comeback from hip surgery.

It seemed to make sense given that in two of Rask's four starts he has played quite poorly. That, paired with the fact he was shut down for the week due to hip soreness, made the reports seem quite reasonable. However, according to head coach Bruce Cassidy, his current status with the team hasn't changed.

«I think that's for Tuukka to comment on his stature,» Cassidy said. «I was told he wouldn't practice this week. I don't think that's changing at all. So if he has something to say, I think I'll leave it to him.»

Reports, the first of which came from The Athletic, suggested Rask may finalize his retirement decision in the coming days. In his four games with the Bruins this season, he owns an ugly 4.28 goals against average along with a .844 save percentage.
