According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Seattle Kraken claimed forward Austin Czarnik off waivers from the New York Islanders on Tuesday afternoon.

Czarnik, a native of Detroit Michigan, has spent the majority of the 2021-22 season in the American Hockey League with the Bridgeport Islanders, but has appeared in eleven games with New York. In those eleven games, Czarnik has tallied five points (two goals, three assists) and is a plus-five.

The 29-year-old joined the Islanders prior to the 2020-21 season and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

In other related news, the Washington have put defenceman Dennis Cholowski on the waiver wire.

Cholowski, 23, was originally a first round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings in 2016. He was selected by the Seattle Kraken in last summer's expansion draft, but didn't make an appearance with the club. On October 14th, two days after the season began, Cholowski was claimed off waivers by the Washington Capitals.

In seven games this season with Washington, the Langley, British Columbia native has one assist, two penalty minutes and is a minus-four.
