According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Chicago Blackhawks will be interviewing former Bruins and Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli for their GM vacancy.

On Thursday's edition of Insider Trading on TSN, Dreger said, "And despite the turmoil, the Chicago Blackhawks are planning on quickly moving forward with the hiring of a general manager or the head of hockey operations. As we talked about on Tuesday on Insider Trading, a number of candidates have been identified with varying levels of experience. But here's an interesting name for you. Sources indicate that Peter Chiarelli, who's working with Doug Armstrong and the St. Louis Blues, has been contacted by the Chicago Blackhawks and will interview for their hockey operations vacancy, among others."

"This could move very quickly, as I said Tuesday, I'll repeat myself, the interviewing process expected to begin this weekend and drift into early next week," Dreger added.

Chiarelli, 57, is currently working as the vice president of hockey operations for the St. Louis Blues. Before taking the role with St. Louis, Chiarelli spent nearly four years with the Edmonton Oilers as their general manager, and prior to that, he was the GM for the Boston Bruins, guiding them to a Stanley Cup in 2011.

The Chicago Blackhawks have been without a general manager since late-October after Stan Bowman stepped down following the results of an investigation into sexual assault allegations against the team's former video coach.
