This would be a huge blow to the Czech Republic, one of the favourites for the men's hockey gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Former NHLer and team star David Krejci tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Beijing this week and his participation in the Games is in question.

Czech Republic coach Filip Pesan seems confidant Krejci will be able to play.

"We're going to re-test him tonight and re-test him tomorrow morning, and I strongly believe that he's going to join the practice tomorrow (Thursday)," Pesan said.

Krejci would be the top talent on Czechia's team, although it does include some other recognizable names. The roster is considered one of the best at the 2022 Winter Olympics, along side Russia.

Each team brought an extra six players to the Olympics just in case positive tests took members of the regular roster out of action. We should know more about Krejci's status later Thursday.
