On Wednesday, it was announced that Alex Ovechkin would not be able to attend the 2022 All-Star game due to testing positive for COVID-19. His replacement is one that has and will continue to be discussed plenty in Tom Wilson.

Wilson, 27, has developed a reputation as being a dirty player due to several questionable hits throughout his nine-season career. Because of that reputation, many have failed to realize how good of a player he has become in recent seasons. Through 42 games this season he has put up 10 goals and 31 points, and has remained relatively disciplined by his standards with 56 penalty minutes.

There are plenty out there who despise Wilson, but perhaps this game will open their eyes to just how good of a player he is. To his credit, he seems to have changed the way he plays the game this season, and has had no incidents to this point that have warranted any form of supplemental disciplinary. This is good news for his team, as they are better with him on the ice than off.
