The Edmonton Oilers lost once against on Thursday night, this time at the hands of the Florida Panthers. Despite outshooting Florida 40-28, the Oilers failed to find the back of the net, losing by a score of 6-0.

With last night's loss, Edmonton has now dropped to 2-11-2 in their last fifteen games.

Fans began to show their frustration on Thursday, as a couple of jerseys were thrown onto the ice in the third period. On Friday morning, Spittin' Chiclets posted a video on Instagram of the jerseys being thrown, and Brad Marchand took a shot at Oilers fans in the comment section.

"And fans will wonder why mcdavid and draisaitl don't sign back there again" Marchand said.

The good news for Oilers fans is that McDavid is signed until 2026 and Draisaitl is signed until 2025. Those two aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Unless they demand to be traded.

If anyone is to blame for Edmonton's struggles this season, it has to be General Manager Ken Holland. Going into this year, Holland knew that his goaltending tandem was going to be a 39-year-old injury prone Mike Smith, and an inconsistent Mikko Koskinen. While Edmonton's poor play isn't all their fault, Holland easily could have gone out during the summer free agent period and gotten the team an upgrade between the pipes.

With the trade deadline exactly two months away, Edmonton's management group will need to decide which route they're going to take, and if they want to go out and find an upgrade in net, they better do it soon, before they dig themselves into a deeper hole and see their playoff hopes fade away.
