A projected first-round pick in the upcoming NHL draft has asked for his contract to be terminated in order to join a new team. Brad Lambert of Finland has decided to part ways with JYP of the Finnish Elite League in order to the Lahti Pelicans.

No reason has been given for the move. JYP said in a statement that Lambert requested that his contract be terminated. It should be noted that Lahti is the city he was born and raised in.

Lambert was once projected to go as high as number 2 in the draft just behind Shane Wright. However, his stock has dropped due to a lack of production and he's now estimated to go somewhere between the 8th and 15th spot. Lambert won bronze with Finland at the 2021 World Junior Hockey Championship, where he was one of the youngest players in the tournament.

Lambert's father is Canadian, while his mother is Finnish. He holds dual citizenship, but the 18-year-old has lived in Finland his entire life.
