The Montreal Canadiens announced several updates to their roster on Thursday morning ahead of their game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Goaltender Jake Allen was injured in last night's game against Boston. It's unclear what happened exactly, but he left late in the first period after allowing two goals on seven shots. Samuel Montembeault came in and despite playing well, allowed three goals as Montreal lost by a score of 5-1.

Allen's injury has caused a bit of a trickle-down effect for goalies in the organization. Cayden Primeau, who was on the taxi squad, has been called up to the active roster and will dress tonight against Chicago. After a strong performance last night, the Canadiens have called up Michael McNiven from the Laval Rocket (AHL) and have placed him on the taxi squad.

The Canadiens also announced that forward Brandon Baddock and defenceman Louie Belpedio have been sent down to the Laval Rocket (AHL) and will meet them in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Additionally, defenceman Kale Clague has been taken off the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list and will meet the Canadiens in Chicago today.

Puck drop for tonight's game in Chicago is set for 8:30pm ET on TSN2 and RDS.
