The Ontario Hockey League's trade deadline is set for tomorrow, January 10th, and the Hamilton Bulldogs are making a massive move, only days after acquiring Montreal Canadiens prospect Arber Xhekaj.

According to Sportsnet's Jeff Marek, the Peterborough Petes are trading Anaheim Ducks prospect Mason McTavish to the Hamilton Bulldogs. Other reports are stating that the Bulldogs are trading rookie forwards Alex Pharand and Jonathan Melee as well as multiple draft picks to Peterborough for McTavish. Pharand was Hamilton's first round pick in 2021, while Melee was a second round pick of Hamilton in 2020.

McTavish, 18, has appeared in only five games for the Petes this season because he started the year with the Anaheim Ducks and played for Canada at the World Juniors. In those five games, McTavish has seven points (six goals, one assist), eleven penalty minutes and is a plus-three.

There's a good chance that Hamilton will be without McTavish for upwards of four weeks beginning at the end of January. McTavish is reportedly on Team Canada's long list for the 2022 Olympics and there's a good chance he gets named to the final roster.
