Rather than postpone any more games, the Toronto Maple Leafs have decided to go ahead and play games with very few fans in attendance after Thursday's announcement from the provincial government.

"All upcoming Toronto Maple Leafs games will transition to operating without sold tickets effective Friday, December 31st," said the team in a release. "Up to 1000 individuals may be in the building through League and team requirements. It is expected that these limits will be in place for the next three weeks. Season seat members and ticket holders should follow us on social for updates."

The NHL had decided to postpone other games happening in Canada in January due to the fact that buildings are required to be empty. However, of course, only so many games can be postponed before there's a scheduling issue. Whether this was the decision of the league or the Leafs isn't known.

Toronto and the Ottawa Senators had been operating at 50 percent capacity, but Thursday's announcement cut attendance to 50 percent capacity to a maximum of 1000 people.
