The Atlanta Gladiators of the East Cost Hockey League announced on Thursday that they signed forward Matt Gomercic to a standard player contract.

For those who don't know or may not remember, Gomercic was a part of the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash back in 2018, one which resulted in 16 deaths. Though the now 24-year-old admits that some days are still very tough, it is great to see that he is healthy and still able to play the game he loves. He now becomes the first player from that Broncos team to sign a professional contract.

Since 2018-19, Gomercic has been playing college hockey in Ontario. Unfortunately, the league was shut down last season due to the pandemic, but has been able to resume play in 2021-22. In nine games this season, he has recorded three goals and five points. Congratulations to him on the signing of this new deal.
