Former Vancouver Canuck icon Markus Naslund is blaming no one but himself after getting caught speeding in a boat by the Coast Guard in his home country of Sweden.

"I was in a hurry when I was going out to an ongoing construction project on an island and drove too fast." Naslund told Expressen.se.

"It is of course wrong of me not to follow the speed limits and I confessed to the crime when the coast guard caught up," said Naslund. "I usually keep to the speed limits but unfortunately I drove too fast this time. It was just me and the coast guard out on the boat that day. That is an explanation but not an excuse."

The incident happened on November 4th. The speed limit in that area is seven knots, while Naslund was going 30. He has been ordered to pay a fine of 3000 SEK, the equivalent of about $330 USD.

Naslund played 1,117 games in 16 seasons in the NHL. He played 12 seasons in Vancouver and was captain for eight years. Right now, Naslund is a businessman and property owner, and has invested in various real estate projects in Sweden.
