On Monday, the Winnipeg Jets announced through their official Twitter account that they will be not only postponing their game on Dec. 29 versus the Chicago Blackhawks, but will not be allowing any fans at their games between now and Jan. 11.

This comes after the province of Manitoba announced some new COVID-19 restrictions, which includes no indoor gathers of over 250 people. These protocols will be reevaluated on Jan. 11 and will determine whether or not they can have fans, at least in some capacity, back after that. They will be the second team to play without fans in the stands this season, as the Montreal Canadiens were forced to do the same prior to the Christmas break. The Jets could have allowed 250 fans to attend, but it appears the organization felt there was no point.

This is a disappointing development given that we had all hoped we were past this, but there is nothing the Jets nor the league can do. The hope moving forward is that we can get soon get past the pandemic for good, but as we have come to realize over the past two years, no one knows for sure when this will all end.
