After announcing that the 2022 Women's U18 Championships would be canceled, the hockey world thrashed back their anger and disapproval towards the IIHF.

Among some of the players and former players that commented on the cancellation are Hilary Knight (USA), Jocelyne and Monique Lamoreux (USA), Hayley Wickenheiser (CAN), Sarah Nurse (CAN), Kendall Schofield (USA), Erin Ambrose (CAN), Shannon Szabados (CAN), Meghan Duggan (USA).

«Wow! The fact this tournament is canceledAGAIN while world juniors is going on is so frustrating. The priorities of the IIHF clearly are out of balance,» Jocelyne and Monique Lamoreux stated in a recent tweet.

Even some of the male athletes of the sport have chipped in, as Ray Ferraro, James Duthie, and Marc Methot have all brought their opinions in on the situation.

«So the IIHF cancels the Women's U18 for the second year in a row. Did I read that right? What an idiotic decision and completely unfair. The young women deserve better here. I want my daughter to play one day. I'd expect better for her, too,» Marc Methot posted.

It does seem kind of interesting that the IIHF refuses to cancel the Men's World Junior Tournament, but was very fast to cancel the Women's tournament. There seems to be a legit grievance growing against the IIHF with this struggle continuing to be a problem.
