Just hours before the Edmonton Oilers took on the Seattle Kraken, the team announced that forward Jesse Puljujarvi has been place in the NHL's COVID-19 protocol and will have to self-isolate.

As they departed Seattle, Puljujarvi was left behind due to quarantine, and now according to Mark Spector of Sportsnet, the Oilers are working to bring the 23-year-old Finn back to Alberta via a charter flight.

"Jesse Puljujarvi remains in Seattle today while the Oilers do the paperwork to charter home a Covid positive player, which takes time. Oilers hoping to have him in Edmonton late today or tomorrow," Spector said in a tweet on Sunday afternoon.

The former fourth overall pick in 2016 is enjoying a strong start to the 2021-22 campaign and is on pace to smash his career totals in goals and points he set last year. In 28 games this season, Puljujarvi has 23 points (10 G, 13 A), 10 penalty minutes, and is a +7.

Puljujarvi will need to self-isolate for at least ten days and have multiple negative test results before he can re-join the Oilers. Given the way things are going in terms of postponed games, Puljujarvi's next game may not be until early-January.
