The Florida Panthers have reportedly assigned rookie goaltender Spencer Knight to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League per their transaction page on their website.

Knight, 20, had a rough outing in his last appearance, which came on Tuesday against Ottawa. He allowed eight goals on 38 shots, but was not pulled.

One day prior to that game the Panthers claimed goaltender Jonas Johansson off waivers from the Colorado Avalanche. With Johansson now as the backup, this allows the Panthers to be patient with Knight's development and give him more playing time as he's only played in 13 of Florida's 28 games.

In those 13 games, Knight has a record of 6-4-2 with a 3.42 G.A.A., and an .892 save percentage.
