Members of the Buffalo Sabres were ecstatic Friday night after appearing to tie up their game against the New York Rangers at 2 with under one minute left in the third. However, after a review, the goal was called off after it was ruled that Rasmus Dahlin was over the blue line when his teammates entered the offensive zone. Not many agreed with the call, including members of the broadcast team calling the game, as you can see in the Tweet below. The Sabres would lose the game 2-1 after the goal was overturned.

Now, to make the situation even more heartbreaking, the league is admitting that the wrong call was made.

"The NHL Situation Room, according to a source, called the Sabres and Rangers to say it incorrectly called offside on the Sabres' disallowed goal that would have tied the game," said John Vogl of The Athletic.

"I asked the officials if we could review whether it was tagged up or not, but the league made a decision. They have the information they had. ... They've got camera angles, and they're on it. That was my question to the officials, and you move on," said Buffalo coach Don Granato following the game.

Unfortunately for Buffalo, there's no recourse here. The game is over and what's done is done. The league really needs to make sure it is getting these calls right. Perhaps this game won't matter much in the long run, but it would sure be different if the Sabres end up just missing the playoffs, or if this call happened in the postseason.
