Yesterday, Sweden named their final roster for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship which begins in just over two weeks. The IIHF allows twenty-five players, but Sweden's roster noticeably it only included only twenty-four players, until today.

Team Sweden's official Twitter account announced on Friday morning that the New Jersey Devils have agreed to loan forward Alexander Holtz to them for the 2022 World Juniors.

"Change in U20 Team/Juniorkronorna's squad. Alexander Holtz is selected as the 25th and last player in the squad. Welcome Alex!" Tre Kronor said.

The Stockholm, Sweden native has represented his country at both the 2020 and 2021 World Juniors. At last year's tournament in Edmonton, Holtz had three points (one goal, two assists) in five games.

Holtz, 19, was New Jersey's first round pick (seventh overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He's split time between the Devils and their AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets, during the 2021-22 season. In six games with New Jersey, Holtz has two assists, while he has ten points (six goals, four assists) in ten AHL games.
