He may have come out of the fight with Zdeno Chara a bloody mess, but Nashville Predators coach John Hynes gushed over Yakov Trenin following the team's game against the New York Islanders. Chara went after Trenin following a hit on Sebastian Aho and kept feeding him punches after Trenin's jersey went up over his face blocking his vision.

According to Hynes, Trenin got seven stiches after the fight. He then came out and scored the game-tying goal in the third period with the Preds going on to win 4-3.

"It was a very tough game today, but I want to give Trenin his due," said Hynes. "He didn't even think of backing down and held firm. And that's great for himself and great for our team. We're lucky to have a player with such an incredible level of physical and mental toughness in our club."

"He really impressed me," Hynes continued. "I'm talking about that moment with Chara...In my opinion, it was an incredible battle on the part of both players... So much courage in that kid! He had to leave the ice for the locker room where he got seven stitches and then he came back and played great. He went on to play his game and that fight didn't scare him at all."

"He was all game and continued to play power hockey. His own hockey. He evened the score, which was a very telling moment. Trenin exemplified what kind of team we are. We have courage and spirit and we never get cornered."
