When the Ottawa Senators acquired a two-time Stanley Cup winner in netminder Matt Murray, and subsequently signed him to a 4-year, $25M deal, I don't think anyone could have foreseen such a dramatic drop off in his overall play.

As a Senator, Murray is a sub .900 goaltender who is allowing more than 3 goals per game on average, and was placed on waivers in November, going unclaimed and is now playing with the Sens' AHL affiliate, the Belleville Senators.

Murray and his camp were reportedly frustrated last week with the lack of communication between them and Sens GM Pierre Dorion. As of Friday, apparently that situation has been remedied.

TSN's Bruce Garrioch has confirmed that Murray and his agent Rob Hooper were contacted by GM Pierre Dorion by phone and that Murray will return to the Ottawa Senators this season - though no specifics were shared by Dorion.

Murray has started just 6 games for the Sens this season, posting a forgettable 0-5-0 record. Perhaps his stint in the AHL will be a bit of a wake up call for the Thunder Bay, Ontario native.
